I can fix that.

(Even if that manager is you…)

Some managers suck.

Your company’s PEOPLE are your most important asset

Hi. I’m Vanessa.

Back in 2006 at the spry age of 25, I was given the reigns of an established yet heavily struggling manufacturing company, and asked to figure out how to not just run it, but to fix it.

There were about 30 employees at the time, most of them twice my age… and all of them none to keen on an upstart Millennial coming in to boss them around. Turnover was nearly 100%, and the owner had already fired the entire staff twice over the past decade.

Needless to say, I had an uphill battle. But, I did it. I implemented new processes to increase net profits by 30% within my first 5 years. I increased staff efficiency by 20%, focused on hiring a more diverse staff, and by the end of my tenure I had churn at less than 10%, with base compensation up 50%. I had a staff that enjoyed working with me, because I listened to them, and treated them like humans.

Here’s how I did it, and how I can help YOU do the same!

I Listened.

Sounds simple, right? Well, yes, in theory. I succeeded by getting to know my staff. Listening to them. Learning from them. A good leader knows that they cannot know everything. Working with my crew I was able to create much smoother processes and create a culture of transparency and warmth.

There should be no disconnection between employees at a company. In order for the company's culture to flow smoothly, open communication must be emphasized.

How can I be a leader, you ask? I've said it before, and I'll say it again. LISTEN to your staff. LEARN from them. No one knows the ins-and-outs of their jobs better than the people actually doing the job. Even if you were promoted from that particular job in the past, things change. Different people have different perspectives.

When people know that they are HEARD and that their suggestions and opinions MATTER, the entire organization will become a more cohesive unit.

Let them eat cake...

One of the most common things I read in Glassdoor reviews is the disconnect between management and staff. We've all been in that situation... you had (or maybe currently have, in which case, I'm sorry) THAT boss.

The micromanager.

The dictator.

The hoverer.

There is a major difference between a BOSS and a LEADER.

A boss, whether intentional or not, laser-focuses on an agenda without the ability to adapt to changes. They have a certain way that they want things done; it is their way or the highway. A boss is someone whose presence is met with eye rolls and silent groans from their staff. A boss is someone who makes folx not want to show up to work.

A leader, however, knows that their position is one of ambiguity. They must always be ready for change, and face that change with creativity and tact. They also know that they don't have to do it alone; they have their team. They know how to work together to succeed.

All managers must strive to be the latter.

The thing is, many business owners know lots about running their business, but when it comes to managing people, they get lost easily. That’s where I come in. I learn from the people directly, providing strategies for growth from the data I gather.

My specialty is transforming company culture and cohesion.

Free 1 Hour Initial Consultation! 〰️

Hire me!

Book a FREE one hour initial Zoom consultation in which we can learn more about each other and discuss the struggles you are facing. I will also provide a rough estimate for my services, based upon what I learn, and the size of your organization.

Once hired, here is how I will approach creating change in your company:

Step 1: I will speak with upper management to get an idea of the overall health of the company, financial issues, etc.

Step 2: I will start at the ground up by interviewing staff. During these interviews I will learn about what they do, how they do it, what works and what doesn’t. Additionally, I will ask them about WHO works, and who doesn’t. Employee happiness is usually at the mercy of middle management, I will sus out any pinch points. I will redact names of employees I interview for their privacy!

Step 3: I will compile all of the data I have gathered and present a new Business Culture Plan to company leaders. In this plan I will provide everything that I have learned from interviews, along with a detailed plan of action. Every organization is unique, but every organization can also be improved by learning from their People.

My rate is $100/hour, billed in 30 minute increments for Remote services.

In-person services are quoted individually, and will have travel fees added.
