The Beauty of Mini Sessions!

Mini sessions can be used for all sorts of things!

There’s no replacement for professional photos

We all have pretty decent cameras riding around in our pockets and purses. Our phones. We snap pictures constantly, and they just pile up and pile up until we have to buy more data storage. Occasionally we’ll find one that we want to use to print, but they’re mainly there to have a quick glance at… and often forget.

Photography isn’t just about the equipment. Anyone can buy a SLR or Mirrorless camera and snap some photos. Photography is about the passion. The experience. The intuition.

With a quarter century of experience, I’ve learned countless tricks, angles and approaches to capture moments at just the right time. When it comes to photographing people, I eschew the traditional poses and wait until the subjects look to be comfortable in their element. I don’t just take one photo, I take dozens. I chat with people as I do. I make them laugh. Photography can be intimate and awkward; the key is to break through the awkwardness but retain the intimacy.

Plus, I’m a really good photo editor.

What’s my point here?

Mini sessions. They’re the perfect way to immortalize all sorts of things. Surprise engagement? Yup. Photos for holiday cards? Perfect. A small event? I’m there. A quick branding sesh? Naturally.

My mini sessions can be indoors our outdoors, and you have me for 45 minutes. My pricing fluctuates occasionally (I try to keep my pricing in-line with other local photographers), and you can always double check it on my website. As of writing this, I’m offering a special outdoors only mini-mini session where you get 3 fully edited photos of your choice (from a proof sheet) for just $195 (plus any travel). These are perfect for holiday cards, engagement announcements…. you name it. It’s the gorgeous time of year. That special goes through the end of November of this year.

You can book your next session with me at the button below.

One last thing: something I see a lot is the devaluing of the skills of photographers. I hear of many that are convinced to photograph an event for free (one woman I know was talked into photographing and editing a 4 hour wedding at no cost). Please, don’t ask photographers (or other artists) to work for free. Our equipment is expensive. Our skills have been honed over years of experience. Plus, for many like myself, this is our primary income. If you ask a friend to be your photographer, pay them for their time., either monetarily or with a like kind exchange. It’s one thing if we hold free sessions to build our portfolios; that’s our decision. If you truly want to support a friend or family member that is a photographer, pay them for their time. <3
